The suspect |
The Command Public Relations Officer, Mr. Kareem Olarewaju, said the suspects were arrested on Saturday by operatives of the NSCDC at Fidiwo Village.
The suspects, Latif Salau, Kudirat Taiwo, and Odewole Odebunmi were arrested at night where they were scooping fuel from a vandalised pipeline.
Items recovered from the suspects
are 950 gallons of Petroleum products, in 25litres kegs, handsets and other
tools used at pipeline vandalism sites.
One of the suspects alleged she was called by both Latif and Odebunmi that the fuel was available for purchase. She insisted she didn’t know their real names but only called them by their nicknames.
She further confessed to the NSCDC operatives: “I and the two other suspects were caught at the spot where we were scooping fuel. I used to buy each 25litre at N800- and sells at N1, 400. I was introduced to the business recently by a friend. This is the second time I would be buying stolen fuel from the suspects.”
The two other suspects during interrogation denied selling fuel to the woman but accepted knowing her. Both men were arrested at the spot where they were siphoning fuel.
Olarewaju said the denial of the two suspects of not being involved in the crime does not hold water as they all would be charged to court after investigation.
