The Divisional Police Officer of Pen Cinema Police Station and four
workers of Linda Manufacturing Company, makers of ‘X-Pression hair
attachment,’ were injured yesterday during a protest.
Hundreds of the workers took to the streets to protest the alleged
sacking of their colleagues and illtreatment by the management of the
Chinese firm.
The protesters were mostly young secondary school leavers, who wanted
to work and raise money before furthering their education. They
gathered at the company’s gate around 7a.m., chanting solidarity songs.
They barricaded the Iju-Ishaga Road, causing traffic jam. The workers
vowed not to leave the road until all their complaints were resolved.
