Nwali was murdered by a gang in the area allegedly led by a former village head in connection with the community’s pond, which is the people’s source of drinking water.
A source in the area told our correspondent that the pond was dirty and the village head, Joseph Nweke, asked the deceased to beat the community’s gong and inform the people of the need to clean it.
The source said: “The village head mandated Sunday Nwali to head a four-man committee which would go to the various villages and inform them that everybody should come out to clean up the pond.
