Authorities of the Yaba College of Technology (YABATECH) yesterday
shut the institution over violent protest embarked on by the students.
On Wednesday, the students, who were protesting the death of one of
their colleagues, Comfort Dazan, demanded the immediate suspension of
academic activities.
Yesterday, the Academic Board of the college announced the closure of
the institution for one month. It added that the college community
would use the period to mourn the departed soul.
In a statement issued by the college’s Public Relations Officer, Mr.
Charles Oni, students were asked to vacate the campus before noon, to
avoid further destruction of property.
