Customs empowers officer’s wives



The Customs Officers Wives (COWA) Western Marine Command recently organized a two week training programme for its members.


The Chairperson/Co-Ordinator of the Command, Hajiya Maryam Yusuf, said the programmes would enable members to be trained in different skills acquisition.

The training was done in partnership with Stella Yetty Enterprises, an affiliate of the National Directorate of Employment (NDE).

Presenting certificates to those that participated, Yusuf said that 18 of its members came out as trainees, while three came out as trainers at the end of the two weeks programme.

According to her, Comptroller Umar Yusuf provided an office accommodation for the members. She said that the provision facilitated the regular meeting of members to discuss issues with ease.
She revealed that the command on April, 30, 2015, successfully empowered 16 members of COWA after completing their training at the Command‘s headquarters. She said that 14 of those who trained in baking were empowered with fully equipped gas oven each. She added that those who trained in other vocations were also empowered.
