Metuh: I have no case to answer on N400m
The car gift is, however, the reason for the arrest and detention of PDP Deputy National Chairman, Prince Uche Secondus, last Tuesday.
The former Acting National Chairman of the party is still in the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) five days after his arrest. He handed over only last Monday to Senator Ali Modu Sheriff as substantive national chairman after nine months in acting capacity.
But contrary to the claims, the cars, mostly Hyundia brand, valued at N300 million, were not meant for PDP campaigns. The vehicles were given to the PDP leadership over two years ago when Alhaji Adamu Mu’azu was still the National Chairman of the party. A source at the party’s national secretariat, who pleaded anonymity, said Secondus received the cars on behalf of the National Working Committee (NWC) members.
