How agency frustrated attempts to sell property – Investigation
The immediate past Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), Air Chief Marshal Alex Badeh (rtd), will appear before operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) today for interrogation.
Badeh, who honoured the commission’s invitation last week Wednesday, was asked to return today, after a brief interaction with operatives at the antigraft agency’s headquarters in Abuja.
President Muhammadu Buhari had ordered the EFCC to further investigate the retired four-star General and other retired and serving senior officers, who were indicted by the 13-man presidential panel saddled with the responsibility of auditing procurement of arms and equipment, between 2007 and 2015.
Over N29 billion and $2 billion had been expended on the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) procurement activities alone between 2007 and 2015. Before his January 16, 2014 appointment as CDS by former President Goodluck Jonathan, Badeh was the Chief of Air Staff (CAS).
