Magistrates’ Court 23, Ikeja, Lagos, yesterday remanded the suspected
kidnappers of missing female banker, Mrs. Bukola Olowookere, pending
the advice from the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP).
The accused are Kingsley Walison (29), Isaac Mathew (52), Peter Lokosu (21), Jeremiah Wenu (35) and Joseph Zossu (62).
Olowookere, until her abduction, was working with the Bourdilion,
Ikoyi branch of Ecobank. She was kidnapped on her way back from work on
May 5, after she was dropped off at Canoe bus stop in Ajao Estate about
9p.m.
The nursing mother is yet to be seen two months after she was
kidnapped. In the course of investigation, the police discovered through
phone tracking device that her phones were in use. But no contact or
demand was made by the kidnappers with her family till date.
The police arrested the accused and recovered Olowokere’s handbag and
phone. Upon arraignment, the accused pleaded not guilty to the
two-count charge of kidnapping and being in possession of arms levelled
against them.
They alleged that they were only fishermen on the Ejigbo River. They
claimed their fishing net caught the woman’s bag containing her phone.
The state Commissioner of Police, Fatai Owoseni, had earlier confirmed the discovery of the woman’s handbag and phones.
He said police would get to the root of the matter and would not rest
until she was found. However, Magistrate Mrs. O. Olanipekun ordered the
remand of all the accused in police custody pending the advice from
DPP. She adjourned the case till September 5.https://newtelegraphonline.com/court-remands-female-bankers-suspected-kidnappers/
