Four Ekiti varsity students, driver die in auto crash

Four students of Ekiti State University (EKSU) and a driver reportedly lost their lives yesterday when two vehicles collided on Iworoko-Ifaki Ekiti Road in Ekiti State.

Witnesses said the victims, whose identities could not be ascertained at press time, were four students and a driver of a bus belonging to a private nursery/ primary school.
The witnesses added that officials of the Federal Road Safety Commis-sion (FRSC) had a hectic time evacuating the trapped victims from the wreckage of the two vehicles. The accident occurred about 5:30p.m. when a Lexus car in which the students were returning to school collided with the bus just after overtaking another car at a sharp bend.
One of the witnesses said the accident occurred a few metres from the main gate of the institution. He said: “The students were returning from an outing in Ado- Ekiti town when their car overtook another vehicle at a sharp bend.
The car collided with the bus which was on its own lane on the single carriage road. The bus was coming from the Ifaki end of the road. “The four students inside the Lexus car died on the spot while the driver of the bus gave up immediately after being helped out of the wreckage.
He died right there before the FRSC officials could help him to the hospital. I think they took the bodies to the mortuary of the state hospital.
“It was when we were removing the bodies of the students that some of their friends who rode in another vehicle came, lamenting that the victims just attended an outing where their colleague was celebrating a Range Rover Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) he just bought.”https://newtelegraphonline.com/four-ekiti-varsity-students-driver-die-auto-crash/
