120 feared dead as Fulani herdsmen attack Nasarawa villages

No fewer than 120 persons are feared killed in two separate attacks in Nasarawa State by gunmen suspected to be Fulani herdsmen.

The gunmen were said to have on Sunday evening invaded communities in the southern senatorial district of Nasarawa State, killing over 20 persons and setting no fewer 80 houses ablaze.
Shortly before that, the suspected Fulani herdsmen also attacked Wayo, Arikiya, Agwan Usman, Angwan Gindiri and Angwan Ali, killing over 100 villagers.
The villages attacked on Sunday are said to include Gidan Gambo, Abaagu, Atabela, Assakio Assahangwa and Adamu Agyo.
Investigation revealed that also affected in the fresh attack by the suspected Fulani herdsmen were Ikposogye, Lega Obi, Tudun Adabu, Mararaba Obi, Agwatashi, Deddere, Agwan Mamman, Agwan Hamidu, Agwan Sule, Ome and Adamu Agyo Fadama Buna.
As at the time of filing this report, there has been no official reaction to the attack.
Source said the threat of attack had been on for some weeks now, as the Fulani herdsmen were said to have notified residents of the area of the impending attack.
