A husband who stabbed a man to death for running away with his men, has told police that he did not mean to kill the victim.
The suspect, Wasiu Kadiri, 22, said the deceased, provoked him into picking a nearby knife used in killing a cow, to stab his neck.
Kadiri, who said he did not know the deceased’s name, added the late man was a friend to one Tunji whom he knew in his area.
After killing the man, Kadiri ran away from the area. Investigators finally arrested at the Lagos Island.
Kadiri explained: “The name wife is Barakat. We have a three-month-old son. The man I killed is a friend to one Tunji, staying in our area. of my and we both have a three-month-old son, the guy I killed is a friend to Tunji. On Sallah day with the man. Prior to that time, the man had run away with my wife for some time.
Tunji and the man were going about on a motorbike. The man was showing me a cult sign drawn on his belly as they rode pass. Tunji later went into their own compound, while the man moved towards me.
“He tried to tease me into a fight. He came and asked me if I knew who he was. I became angry and insulted him. Then he punched my face.
“At that point, I looked around and saw a knife with which I attacked him. The knife had just been used
In killing a sallah cow. I stabbed him on the neck. He slumped and started gasping. I did not mean to kill him.”
According to Kadiri, when some men saw the gasping for breath and blood gushing out from his neck like a broken tape, they had started chasing him.
He recalled: “That was how I fled. I ran to Lagos Island to my working place. Meanwhile, my wife showed up some days to Sallah. When my grandfather invited her to inquire why she ran away with the guy, she said it was as if she was charmed.”
