LAGBUS inducts 40 female drivers

LAGBUS inducts 40 female drivers
The LAGBUS Asset Management Limited, owners of commercial buses known as LAGBUS buses, yesterday inducted 40 of the 80 women who applied as female drivers in the company.
The LAGBUS Managing Director, Mr Babatunde Disu, who disclosed that the 80 women were short-listed out over 300 that applied for the job, also said the women would commence driving in the metropolis, once they completed their training. It was gathered that the majority of the applicants are graduates who have Bachelor of Science and Higher National Diploma in various disciplines.
Disu said the decision to employ female drivers was to encourage more women with interest in driving public buses for a living and to further serve the commuters in the state.
According to him, studies have shown that women are more careful while driving. The MD added that the company had also found out that some passengers using LAGBUS preferred female drivers to their male counterparts.
He said: “The idea behind this is that first, we recognise women are more careful, they are more caring and dedicated. And also a lot of women don’t know what they are doing have the interest in driving bus but they have not be given the chance.
That is what LAGBUS is doing. “We short-listed 80 out of 300 women that applied for the job. The 80 women will be trained from the scratch on how to drive. We are doing induction for the first batch. We already have three qualified female bus captains (drivers). This set of female trainee drivers will learn from the scratch because none of them knows how to drive.”http://newtelegraphonline.com/lagbus-inducts-40-female-drivers/
