Lovers die two weeks to marriage

Confusion enveloped Ughelli in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State when the decomposing bodies of two lovers simply identified as Udogi Eguke and Ese were found days after they died mysteriously in their apartment at Makolomi Street.

The landlord, Chief Alfred Onavwa, who shares the top floor of the one-storey building with one of the diseased, confirmed the incident. Onavwa said when neighbours were concerned about Eguke’s absence the landlord called his mobile line only to realise that it was ringing upstairs.
He said: “Getting close to the door of the private stairway leading to Eguke’s apartment, I noticed that it was locked from inside with a stench oozing out. On realising this, I invited the police who came and broke the door only to discover their decomposing bodies on the stairway.
“Their remains were later deposited at the mortuary and I was made to understand that investigation into the matter was ongoing. Even the Ughelli Divisional Police Officer was here to see things for himself.”
Investigation showed that the couple, whose marriage was already slated for November 22, had started preparation with invitation cards already sent out to guests.
When contacted, the Ughelli Divisional Police Officer, Samuel Musa, directed all comments on the matter to the state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Celestina Kalu. But at press time, Kalu was yet to respond to calls and messages sent to her mobile phone.http://newtelegraphonline.com/lovers-die-two-weeks-to-marriage/
