Policemen attached to Apapa Police Station Lagos State, wept profusely after a truck driver crushed a Police Inspector and dragged his corpse over 100 metres.
It was gathered that the
police officer, Gwarza, was on duty at Liverpool Roundabout, when the driver of
the truck ran against traffic and crushed him.
The truck was said to
have dragged Gwarza and his gun to about 100 metres, but eventually stopped
close to Tin Can Island, Apapa.
The driver and conductor
of the vehicle alighted from it because of a traffic gridlock and escaped from
the scene.
Policemen attached to
Apapa Police Station have recovered the truck.
A police sergeant
attached to the station who spoke on the condition of anonymity, said that the
officer hung his AK- 47 rifle and was about returning to the station in the
evening when the accident occurred.
