Boko Haram: Suicide bombers kill 16 in Jos, many injured


There was panic in JOS, Plateau State capital, yesterday after two suicide bombers, at Jos Business Area, killed 16 people and injured many.

According to the Nigerian Tribune, the incident occurred at about 6.15 p.m. during the rush hour, when people, especially traders and those who own business in the area, were closing for the day
An eyewittiness said one of the suicide bombers positioned himself opposite a popular eatery centre, Mr Biggs and blew himself up.
According to him, immediately the incident occurred, other people within the vicinity took to their heels, while the second suicide bomber, precisely opposite the FirstBank, blew himself up.
The eyewitness said those at the scene of the incident could not give a helping hand to those affected by the blast for fear of another explosion or the possibility of gunmen lurking around.
Another eyewitness said before he left the scene of the incident, no fewer than 16 dead bodies were seen and and many others, mostly workers returning from work, were injured.
A source at the state specialist hospital revealed that some of those who sustained injuries are receiving treatment, while bodies of those who died had been deposited at the hospital mortuary.
When contacted, the media officer, Special Task Force, Captain Ikedichi Iwela, confirmed the explosion but added that the number of causality could not be ascertained yet, as security operatives are still combing the area.
