Robbers disguise as passengers, hijack luxury bus

80 passengers rescued from hijacked luxury bus
Men of the Dragon Patrol Team of the Delta State Police Command yesterday rescued a luxury bus hijacked by a five-man armed robbery gang.

In the bus were over 80 passengers from Lagos State, travelling for Christmas to the South-East. The hoodlums, it was gathered, disguised as passengers, boarded the bus from Lagos before hijacking the bus at gunpoint on Benin-Asaba Expressway.
The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Celestina Kalu, who confirmed the incident at the state command headquarters in Asaba yesterday, said on sighting the police, the robbers jumped down from the bus and escaped into the bush. She said: “Our men sighted the bus on Ibusa/Ogwashi-Uku Road entering into a lonely track road. The team suspected the movement and traced the vehicle. The hoodlums sighted the police and jumped down from the bus and escaped into the bush.
“The driver of the vehicle and the passengers were rescued and taken to Ibusa Police Station where they revealed that five armed men unknowingly boarded the bus as passengers from Lagos. “On getting to Umunede, a neighbouring town to Agbor in Delta State, took over the bus and started robbing the passengers. The interception of the police aborted their other intended heinous act.”
