Five arrested for printing fake PVCs in Nasarawa

THE Nasarawa State command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), on Thursday, paraded five suspects for allegedly printing fake permanent voter cards (PVCs) in both Keffi and Karu local government areas of the state.
The state commandant of the corps, Mr Andekin Amos Musa, who paraded the suspects before newsmen in Lafia, the state capital, said his men arrested one Iliya Emmanuel Ayas, 23, an indigene of the state, residing in Government Reserved Area (GRA) and recovered 87 temporary fake voter cards and one fake PVC, with Adams Fatima photo on the card.
According to him, “my officers on normal routine patrol stormed Angwan Kofar, particularly a house which was said to belong to one Badamasine, a resident in Keffi area of the state, where INEC machine was stationed and was registering people when my men arrested them and brought them to the command.
“One HP laptop, one banner/signpost indicating illegally national ID card/voters card were recovered from them,” he added.
Other suspects paraded were Sadiq Lebo and Mohammed with Zinox laptop, two capturing cameras, as well as three thumbprinting and scanning machines.
He added that his men also apprehended suspects in Karu, in connection with fake registration of national identity card.
“We have a victim too to whom he paid money and he was captured to be given the national identify card and the PVC.
“We arrested the suspect who identified himself as Iliya Nuhu, 23, and has a business centre called Above All CafĂ©, beside Pear hotel in Karu.
“The suspects paid those who connive with them, according to our investigations, the sum of N25,000 before obtaining the INEC machine and the suspects collected the sum of N1,500 before registering people,” he stated. Tribune
