Arase lauded for rebranding NPF within 14 months

Arase

The former Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mr. Solomon Arase, has been applauded for all the efforts he put into rebranding the Nigeria Police Force within 14 months of his reign.

Thanking President Muhammadu Buhari for giving Arase the opportunity to serve, Mr. Folorunsho Atta, a crime analyst, said that it showed Nigerian President was also a serious minded crime fighter.
Atta said he was happy at the determined strides towards curbing insurgents, corruption, armed banditry and kidnapping taken by Arase.
Atta added: “Arase, with only 14 months at the saddle, surpassed the records of some of his predecessors who served the nation for many years. Arase started by ensuring that the transition of ex-president Dr. Jonathan Goodluck to the incumbent, Buhari was smooth. After the smooth hand-over ceremony, police officers who took part in the transitions were paid their allowances, without the usual practice of allowances diversion.”
The crime analyst said that with Arase’s penchant for Intelligence gathering, kidnappers involved in the kidnapping of Chief Olu Falae and Senator Iyabo Anisulowo were arrested. Arase’s administration also checked the activities of high-tech bank robbers who operated in Ikorodu, Lekki and Festac, leading to the death of innocent people.
Atta said the arrest of the killers of Colonel Isa Musa in Kaduna and the foiling of two attempts by Boko Haram members to bomb Abuja by the policemen under Arase showed the prowess of his capabilities as a leader.
Atta said: “Arase restored the tailoring and printing departments of the police, which had been comatose for over 20 years. The creation of anti-corruption squads and ‘Safer Highways Patrols’, assisted in the reduction of corruptions in the Nigeria Police Force.”
On police welfare, Atta hailed Arase for promoting police officers based on credibility.
In the area of training and retraining, Atta said Arase reorganized the police training centres, Ilu-Oragun, Osun State and Oji River in Enugu State, where several officers attended various courses in order to make them productive.
Atta said that with the appointment of a retired Deputy Inspector-General of Police, DIG, Mr. Azubuko Joel Udah, as the chairman of the Board of Nigeria Police Force Microfinance Bank by Arase, the bank is today, more efficient, and financial strong than some commercial banks.
