An eight-year-old girl, Miss. Sarah
Mngueshima Jiboh, who was thrown out of the house by her foster parents in
Sauka, Abuja, has been rescued and handed over to the Benue State Command of
the National Agency for Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons and Other Related
Matters, (NAPTIP).
Mngueshima, who was brought to Makurdi
by a man she met in a vehicle from Abuja, said was heading to Benue to search
for her biological parents. She also said that her foster parents used to
maltreat her.
The girl, who hails from Buruku Local
Government Area of Benue State, said that she was thrown out of the house by
her aunt's husband because she failed to do her domestic chores.
She further explained that she found her
way to Benue Links Park, where she was assisted and brought to Makurdi, to trace
her biological parents.
According to her, on reaching Makurdi, a passenger she met in the bus, took her to the Police 'B' Division. It was from the police station that she was later handed over to the Zonal Office of NAPTIP.
An Officer with the Benue State Command of NAPTIP, Mr. Paul Otobo, who received the girl, said NAPTIP had already started making efforts to locate the girl’s parents.
According to her, on reaching Makurdi, a passenger she met in the bus, took her to the Police 'B' Division. It was from the police station that she was later handed over to the Zonal Office of NAPTIP.
