Man in court for car snatching, goes to rob again

A man, who already has an ongoing court case for snatching a car, has been arrested again for attempting to snatch another car.  The suspect, Ndubuisi Emehelu, 28, was arrested with his partner in crime, Uche Chukwu, 21.

Emehelu, who used to sell car parts in Ladipo Market, was arrested by the police last two months. Emehelu explained that before his arrest, which led to his present court case trial for car snatching, he used to sell motor parts to car snatchers.

He said that once they snatch cars, he and one Emeka would sell them at giveaway prices. He was arrested at the Benin- Ore Road, while taking snatched vehicles to Lagos.
According to him, while he was in cell, he met one man named Ogaga, who had spent three years in the prison. He said that Ogaga called him two weeks after he was granted bail, saying that he had someone who wanted to sell a stolen. He asked Emehelu to meet him. It was there that the police arrested them.

Stating his own side of the story, Chukwu said he was squatting with friends in Bolade, Oshodi, where he met the gang.   “I’ve gone with them on two operations. I was given N15, 000 in the first. We were caught in the second.”
