A police officer attached to the Jigawa State
command (names withheld) is now in the custody of the Nigerian Security and
Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) for allegedly raping his mother-in-law.
The only thing that came to my mind was that the mother-in-law must be a sight for sore eyes. Maybe a sexy, irresistible woman? But even at that, is there any excuse for such an act?
This was contained in a press statement signed and made available to the Nigerian Tribune in Dutse by the NSCDC Commandant in the state, Mr Muhammad Gidado.
The statement indicated that the suspect was arrested in Dutse municipal council.
“A police officer (names withheld) was arrested for interloping the wife of his father-in-law (names withheld) in Dutse, Jigawa State capital,” the statement indicated.
“The suspect admitted committing the crime and rendered a written apology and undertaking to his father-in-law,” the release stated further.
Gidado explained that further investigations were being carried out into the matter, after which the suspect would be arraigned.
When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Jigawa State command, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Abdu Jinjiri, said there was no official report from the NSCDC on the arrest of any police officer on the alleged offence.
The PPRO explained that “as far as the state police command is concerned, none of its officers is missing in action.”
