There was pandemonium at Inukosegba village, near Akorede Estate, Mile II in Abeokuta North Local Government Area of Ogun State on Sunday when a toddler was stolen at a christening ceremony. Opeyemi Ogundele, who is 20-months-old, was kidnapped about 1:30pm at the naming organised by the family of Mr Olusola Osunleke for their new-born daughter.
The disappearance of the child brought the scheduled naming ceremony to an abrupt end and later resulted in the discovery of a suspected ritual killers’ den in the area.
The den, which is a newly completed bungalow located adjacent Osunleke’s house, was allegedly owned by an Ifa priest and Jagunmolu Elegun of Egba, Chief Olasile Ifayemi.
Angry residents, who stormed the area yesterday and vandalised the building, said severed human body parts, including hands, a woman’s breast, intestines, human effigy, fetish objects and masquerade regalia, were discovered at the den which also houses a shrine.
When our correspondent visited the scene yesterday, youths, who displayed on their mobile phones some of the human parts recovered from the building, threatened to set the house ablaze.
