Tragedy struck at Umuoma Umuorji village, Mgbidi in Oru West Local Government Area of Imo State as four members of the same family died in their sleep.
The incident occurred on Tuesday night after they attended the wedding of a relative.
The tragedy has thrown the community into mourning as many villagers bemoaned the bizarre fate that had befallen the family.
Those who died were Mrs Rachel Igbokwe and her three children, Daniel, Chioma and Baby Igbokwe. Until their death, the victims lived in Lagos, but only returned recently to attend the wedding of the said relative.
As at press time, the actual cause of their death could not be ascertained because members of the community were too shocked to talk about the incident.
When journalists visited the house in Mgbidi, the remains of the deceased had been removed to a mortuary. However, the mother of the deceased, Mrs Georgiana Igbokwe, narrated how the incident occurred.
