Emir of Kano, Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi II, has urged President Muhammadu Buhari to effect the prosecution of the former minister under former President Goodluck Jonathan alleged to have stashed over $6 billion in a foreign account.
Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State recently disclosed that United States officials during a visit to Washington to the Buhari-led delegation that a minister in the Jonathan administration made away with over $6 billion.
Speaking while hosting members of the Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission, led by its Executive Chairman, Muhuyi Magaji, who paid him a courtesy visit, the monarch lamented that if such amount was embezzled in some countries, such a country would definitely collapse.
He said: “It is disheartening to see that Nigeria is one of the countries in the world that is leading in corrupt practices. We should understand that fighting against corruption is not only for government, we all need to put our hands on deck.”
