An Ogun State High Court sitting at Isabo, Abeokuta yesterday
sentenced a retired soldier, Alabi Ibrahim, to life imprisonment for
raping his 10-year-old step daughter and infecting her with Human
Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV).
The court presided over by Justice Abiodun Akinyemi sentenced the
convict, who reportedly retired from the Nigerian Army a few years ago
in a suit number AB/37/C/14. Ibrahim had committed the offence in 2012
at his Abeokuta home where the victim and her mother also resided.
Miffed by the sexual assault of the 10-year-old girl (name withheld),
a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO), Child Protection Network (CPN),
took up the matter and sued the former soldier.
The convict was consequently arraigned by the police on a one-count charge of having sexual intercourse with the minor.
