River police parade soldier over robbery kidnappers



Police in River State today paraded some suspected kidnappers and armed robbers at the State Command.

The State Commissioner of Police, Chris Ezike, said he promised that the onslaught against criminals in the state will force many of them to relocates from the state.

One Friday Ozogo was said to have been kidnapped around Elekahi by a gang of three armed men. He was later killed and buried by the kidnappers at Choba Waterfronts in the state metropolis.

After killing hum, the kidnappers continued to call the victim’s family for ransom. They eventually collected N500, 000.00 from the deceased family.

The suspects were identified as Kelvin Ogbulaon 22, Chiwendu Akani 20 and Nelson Kacaranmoh 23. They later confessed to the crime.While the corpse of the victim was exhumed for autopsy.

 Two locally made pistols with 7.62mm ammunition were recovered from the suspects.

The soldier with force number 12NA/68/7580-93 claimed he was attached to 231 Battalion Biu was arrested along Eneka Farm Road in Port Harcourt with  one AK 47 rifle and 90 live ammunitions. While, a Mercedes Benz car, model 190 with a fake Reg. Number, Lagos MS 301 KJA was also recovered from the soldier.

The CP, Added that on July, 23 at about 10pm one Monday Asuquo was arrested at Eleme while trying to collect ransom from the relations of one Barr Daniel whom they kidnapped at Ejama-Ebubu/Trailer Motor Park at Eleme.

The victim was said to be later rescue by the police and one locally made revolver with 6 rounds of ammunition was recovered from the suspect.

The kidnapper who confessed during interrogation revealed that they were contracted by someone to execute the Lawyer with the services fee of one million naira.
