Girl, 17, drowns trying to save 14-year-old boy who also dies in water

Musungay
A 17-year-old girl who drowned in a Norfolk water reserve where 'no swimming' signs had been ripped down by vandals was trying to save her 14-year-old friend, who also died in the tragedy.

Stella Kambi and Bonheur Musungay drowned yesterday afternoon at Thorpe Marshes Nature Reserve in Trowse while they were enjoying a day out at the lake with their families.
Police believe Stella, who is thought to be Congolese and who had moved to Norwich with her family two or three years ago, dived into the water to help close friend Bonheur after he got into difficulties while swimming.
Their helpless families then watched on as the pair drowned and disappeared from their view. Their bodies were recovered later that evening following a huge search operation.
