Miscreants kill two in supremacy battle

Two persons were reportedly killed yesterday while several others were wounded, when two factions of street urchins clashed at the notorious Oshodi in Lagos.

Also, shops, business centres, residential buildings and about 10 vehicles were destroyed in the renewed battle for supremacy between the groups of hoodlums.
It was gathered that the fight, which erupted about two days ago at Ayoni bus stop between Orile Oshodi and Mafoluku factions of the street urchins otherwise called area boys, spread to yesterday. Miscreants from Orile reportedly launched a reprisal attack against their Mafoluku counter-parts. Two persons were killed in the process.
The ‘Mafoluku boys’ had earlier attacked the ‘Orile boys’ for coming to their enclave to extort money from tricycle operators plying their trade at Mafoluku. The timely intervention of policemen from Makinde and Akinpelu stations brought the situation under control. The Chief Medical Director of Our Saviours Hospital, Dr R. B. Aluko, who treated some of the injured persons, said at a time he and his staff had to run away for their own safety. He said: “It was a very bad experience. About 5pm yesterday, the miscreants arrived in a Danfo (commercial) bus and started shooting sporadically, breaking shops and vandalising vehicles.
