Governor Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos State has appointed another
Chairman for the Lagos State Task Force on Environmental and Special
Offences (Enforcement) Unit, Olubukola Abe.
He replaced the former
chairman, Mr Akeem Adedeji. No reason was given for Adedeji’s removal.
Speaking with our correspondent, Abe vowed to deal ruthlessly with any
task force member caught collecting bribe or extorting the public.
According to him, there is no way head of the agency can fight
indiscipline if such head is enmeshed in corruption and sharp practices.
Abe, a Superintendent of Police (SP), said the era of task force
members going out to demand bribe from motorists was over. He said: “The
Commissioner of Police has declared zero tolerance to corruption and
declared that corruption would not have a place in his tenure as police
boss in the state.
