Kyari, robbers’ terror, gets promotion

Kyari
After years of combating armed robbers, especially in Lagos State, former Officer in Charge of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), Ikeja, Abba Kyari, has been promoted. The promotion came just as Kyari, dubbed as robbers’ terror, dusts his armour and shield, to confront criminals at the Force Headquarters, Abuja.
The Police Service Commission (PSC) approved the promotion of 346 Superintendents of Police (SPs), to the rank of Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP). Kyari is among the 346 lucky officers that got promotion.
Those promoted include CSP Akin Adejobi, who happens to be the present OC SARS, CSP Aminu Mohammed, DPO Morroco, CSP Abubakar Yakubu, former Commander Mopol 22, Lagos and CSP Funke Olubanjo, DPO Isokoko.
The promotion came after seven years of being in the same ran. Since the announcement, his Facebook has been inundated with greetings from well-wishers, colleagues and friends.
The officers were decorated yesterday at various command headquarters.
The Inspector-General of Police, Solomon Arase, urged them to be ambassadors of the force.
Kyari was instrumental in the arrest of various armed robbers, kidnappers, sea pirates and terrorists, including the arrest of a notorious armed robber, Abiodun Ogunjobi, aka Godogodo. Godogodo killed over 50 policemen and civilians during his reign of terror.
Kyari smashed a gang of kidnappers that abducted the chairman of Ejigbo Local Council Development Area of Lagos State and a serving judge at the Lagos High Court.
He once led his men to apprehend the gang which abducted the mother of former Finance Minister and Coordinating Minister for the Economy, Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala.
According to the Force Public Relations Officer FPRO), Emmanuel Ojukwu, implored the officers to be professional in discharging their duties. The FPRO stressed that the promotion was based on merit.
He said: “The officers promoted were qualified and their promotion was well deserved.”
