The kingpin of a suspected notorious gang of robbers, specialising in
snatching exotic cars, Ahmed Ola, said he was pushed into robbery
because of the nation’s poor economic situation. Ola spoke with
journalists yesterday during a parade a the Ogun State Police Command
headquarters, Eleweran, Abeokuta.
The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Muyiwa Adejobi,
told journalists that 10 vehicles were recovered from the gang. Adejobi
said the vehicles were snatched from neighbouring states. He listed the
names of those paraded as Ola (kingpin), Ozazuwa Odion (buyer), Abiodun
Taiwo and Ifeanyi Oke.
The PPRO added that they were arrested after a series of complaints
from the public on their activities. All the suspects confessed to the
crime. The ring leader, Ola, told journalists that his gang had snatched
so many cars that he had lost count of. He said: “I met two members of
the gang inside cell when I was arrested for a crime and from there we
formed this group.
