Some policemen attached to the Taraba State Command
have disappeared after killing a trailer driver and his assistant over an
alleged N500 in the state on Sunday night.
This was even as a commercial bus driver stripped himself naked as policeman attempted to impound his bus in Port Harcourt.
Eye witnesses claimed that the killing of the driver and conductor occurred at a roadblock, along Jalingo-Wukari Road. Nobody is however sure on how the shooting and death of the two men took place.
The murder of the two men sparked a protest from other trailer drivers yesterday morning. The angry drivers took to the streets, chanting solidarity songs. They used their vehicles to block the road for other road users. This immediately caused a gridlock.
Some of the men, who were supposed to travel east to make deliveries, demanded that police authority in state should fish out the killer cops.
Meanwhile in |Port Harcourt, Mile 1, Ikwere Road, an angry bus driver, yesterday, stunned commuters when he striped naked in protest against a police officer who wanted to impound his vehicle.
People, who bothered to question the driver on why he went naked, were told by him that he wanted to shock the policeman and garner sympathy from Nigerians.
The policeman was said to have been truly shocked by the driver’s action and had later allowed the man to go.
