Gunmen yesterday abducted a columnist with the Vanguard newspaper,
Dornu Kogbara, in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
According to reports, she
was kidnapped by a four-man gang, who forcibly gained access to her
bedroom, carried her into a Honda CRV and zoomed off.
Kogbara, a
graduate of University of Leicester, and also a writer/broadcaster, is a
board member of Greater Port Harcourt City Development Authority, and
was member of the Presidential Oil/ Gas Sector Reform Implementation
Committee for 10 years.
The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Ahmed Muhammad,
confirmed Kogbara’s abduction.
He said the police were on the trail of
the kidnappers. It was unclear if the kidnappers had established contact
with the family for ransom at press time. Meanwhile, Governor Nyesom
Wike has condemned Kogbara’s abduction.
