Scores escape death in Lagos tanker explosion

Several residents and traders of popular Olosha Market at Mushin in Mushin Local Government Area of Lagos State yesterday escaped death as a fuelladen tanker crashed and spilled its content on the road and drains. 

The tanker, which exploded, destroyed property worth millions of naira. Apart from the tanker, at least three commercial buses were also burnt.
It was learnt that the incident, which occurred about 12.15am, caused confusion as many residents, who were sleeping, woke up and fled their homes to escape death. 
One of the survivors, a father of six, Mr Saheed Mamud described his escape as a miracle. Mamud, a driver, said the tanker almost crushed him inside his commercial bus when it crashed. He said he had to dash out of the bus and flee.
According to him, the explosion occurred in front of Awolowo Market, Olosha Bus Stop, Mushin. 
He said: “I was in my bus when the tanker fell. Immediately I noticed it was a fuel tanker, I ran out of my bus. Everything happened in a flash. About 10 minutes after the tanker fell; there was a loud explosion and fire everywhere.
