Again, fire broke out at the headquarters of Christ Embassy Church, Oregun area of the Lagos metropolis.
The fire, which caused pandemonium as people ran helter-skelter,
destroyed property believed to worth several millions of naira.
Yesterday’s incident came barely 18 months after fire broke out at the
generator room of the church.
In that incident, 14 giant generators and other property within the
church premises were destroyed.
At press time, nobody could really
ascertain the cause of the inferno, but it was learnt that the fire,
which lasted for several hours, emanated from refuse burnt near four
40-feet containers used as storage facilities by the church.
For several
hours, tick smoke rose from the church located on Billings Way Road.
Many motorists made frantic turns to avoid the axis.
But, concerned pedestrians and sympathisers rushed to the scene to
possibly ascertain the cause of the fire or help in putting it out.
