A 65-year-old man, Imowo Bassey, who used to pose as a retired Army
General, working with the Presidency, Abuja, as National Security
Coordinator, Southern Zone, has been arraigned.
Bassey, was arraigned
for defrauding people of their money and belongings, while pretending to
be one General Morgan (rtd), working with the Presidency at Aso Rock
Villa, Abuja.
Bassey was said to have been deceiving his victims that he
was the National Security Coordinator, Southern Zone of the presidency,
a representation which he knew to be false.
Bassey’s true nature was exposed after he defrauded one Mr. Nwikpo
Kanayochukwu Ogonna, N124,000.
The fake Presidency worker was arrested
after Ogonna petitioned the police. According to Ogonna, Bassey
introduced himself as a certain General Morgan(rtd), a worker with the
Presidency in Aso Rock Villa, Abuja and National Security Coordinator in
charge of Southern Zone. Ogonna said: “Bassey came to my shop at No. 1
Ibrahim Alli Street, Fola Agoro, Shomolu Lagos State with a fake army
identity card.
