The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) yesterday said
it was going to make the waterways in Lagos State a no go area for
criminals.
The state Commandant, Gabriel Abafi, said 234 suspects were arrested
across the state and 150 oil thieves were part of those arrests in 2015.
He said: “We have mapped out strategies to man waterways in the 2016,
because statistics have shown that majority of crime perpetrated last
year by armed robbers in Lagos, were via waterways. We would make it
tough for them.”
Abafi said that in the area of vandalism, the command, between
January and December 2015, made progress in dislodging oil thieves at
Badagry, Isawo in Ikorodu, Amuwo- Odofin, Festac Town, Ijora Waterfront,
Oyingbo Ebute-Meta Waterfronts, Igando, Ibeju and Apapa.
