The Rivers State Police Command said it
recovered over 5,078 arms and 11,917 ammunition from armed robbers,
kidnappers and cultists in 2015.
The State Commissioner of Police, Mr.
Musa Kimo, also said that 243 armed robbers and kidnappers were killed
when they engaged his men in various gun battles across the state within
the same year.
Kimo disclosed that 337 kidnap victims
were rescued from different parts of the state in the year under review,
adding that the police also foiled seven bank robberies.
The State Police Commissioner, who spoke
with newsmen on Thursday through the State Police Public Relations
Officer, Mr. Ahmad Mohammad, explained that while 187 armed robbery
suspects were arrested, 329 suspected kidnappers were apprehended by his
men.
