The body of Sergeant Stephen James, who killed twins brothers, Taiwo
and Kehinde Oyesolu and their friend, Adegoke Adesanya alias Jeje, three
weeks ago at Ketu area of Lagos State, has been abandoned at the
morgue.
It was gathered that since the movement of James’ body to the
Military Hospital, Yaba, no member of his family has surfaced to collect
the body. James’ widow is said to be a policewoman attached to the Ogun
State Police Command. Three weeks ago, outside the premises of Paulson
Hotel on Anibaba Street, James shot and killed three persons, and later
shot himself. James initially threatened to shoot the three men if they
failed to buy him a bottle of beer.
The policeman, said to be a habitual smoker of marijuana, became
upset when the twins and their friend cautioned him about his excessive
drinking and advised him to act like a responsible policeman. Minutes
after the trio of Taye, Kehinde and Jeje stepped outside the hotel
premises, where they had gone to celebrate Jeje’s birthday, James opened
fire on them. A police source said:
“The late James was attached to Mopol 22, Lagos State Command. He
listed his son as his next of kin.” The family of James will, however,
not get any of his entitlements since the Lagos State Commissioner of
Police, Mr. Fatai Owoseni, dismissed James from the Force posthumously.
The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mrs. Dolapo Badmus,
did not pick her calls for her comment on the issue.
