A mob has roasted alive a cobbler, identified simply as ‘Aboki,’ in
Calabar, the Cross River State capital, after he allegedly killed his
‘customer’ with a poisonous dagger.
A witness, who refused to give his
name because of the security implication of the case, said the cobbler
of northern extraction, had gone to No. 12, Abangasang, off Etta Agbo
Road to repair shoes for one Eteyen.
It was gathered that after the man worked on the shoes, an argument
ensued on how much to be paid. “Before we knew what was happening, the
‘Aboki’ had removed his dagger, which I believe is poisonous and stabbed
Eteyen in the stomach. Eteyen fell down while the Aboki packed his
things and wanted to run,” the source said.
