Robbers kill politician’s cousin, police, cart away millions




A 31-year-old cousin of a senatorial aspirant under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Edo South senatorial district, Barrister Ehioge West-Idahosa and his police orderly have been shot dead by suspected armed robbers.


The incident occurred just few days to the PDP senatorial primaries scheduled for this weekend. The deceased has been identified as Henry, the only son of his mother.
The young man had just returned from the United Kingdom after concluding his Master’s Degree programme.
Besides the PDP aspirant’s cousin, the dead police orderly until his sudden fate was attached to the Special Protection Unit of the state command.
Investigations revealed that two of them were trailed by the heavily armed robbery suspects from one of the commercial banks in the capital town.
They were said to have gone to the bank to withdraw unspecified huge sum of money at about 2pm and were returning back to the politician’s residence on the government reservation area (GRA) when they met their untimely death.
The suspected gunmen zoomed off with the large sum of money.
Further findings showed that the bandits numbering about five rained bullets on the vehicle and the two occupants died at the spot before they could get any help.
