A 17-year-old, David Onuegbe, is unable to walk and is currently in pains.
But for him to walk again and be relieved of the pains, David needs at least
N1.5 million for a surgery.
According to his mother, Mrs Chibuzor Onuegbe (a
reverend) she cries whenever she looks at her son, because he is going through a
lot of pains.
The woman believed a surgery, which would be done in Indian, would make the
boy alright. She said the operation would gulp N5 million, but the family
presently needs N1.5 million.
According to the minister at Assemblies of God Church, David is the third of
her four children and was born hale and hearty. But he is now being carried
around because he couldn’t walk or stand on his own.
Onuegbe said that David started suffering from ‘cerebral palsy’ when he was
ninemonth- old. She said: “He was admitted into Havana Hospital, where he was in
coma for eight days. We stayed in the hospital for 15 days and used four
cylinders of oxygen. When he came out of coma, he lost the use of everything. He
could not even recognise us or hear sound.
He was discharged on the 16th day but his health did not return to normal.”
Onuegbe added that David had been suffering for years. She recalled that they
went for x-ray and discovered dislocated right hip.
David was diagnosed with an epileptic case, which the family had been seeking
solution to. The family had already visited three hospitals in Nigeria, seeking
for solution, but none of the hospitals could treat him.
After trying hospitals and traditional doctors in Nigeria with no positive
changes, the family decided to go to Vikram Hospital in India.
