The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Fatai Owoseni, and other police
officers had a closed door meeting recently with some local government area
executives to discuss strategies to be adopted in tackling security challenges
confronting the state. The meeting was held at the Command Headquarters,
Ikeja.
The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Joe Offor, said that
Owoseni and members of his management team, comprising of all Area Commanders,
Principal Staff of the state Police Command and all Local Government Executive
Secretaries of the state, held the meeting to review the security challenges and
professional strategies to put in place to make the state a safe haven for
citizens. The meeting was also to foster a better policecommunity
relationship.
Offor said: “We deliberated on the challenges of the police, which included
shortage of manpower and inadequate logistics in terms of vehicles. “Lack of
enough vehicles, technical equipment and communication gadgets are the major
problems of our profession. We have solicited the support of the Local
Government Executives and they have agreed to do everything within their
capacity to be supportive.”
