HARD TIMES AWAIT GENDER-BASED VIOLENCE PERPETRATORS-IGP WARNS

As Federal Ministry of women affairs collaborates with the police

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Solomon E. Arase,  assured the Federal ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development of his total support on the clampdown on perpetrators of violent crimes and other gender-based violence against women and other vulnerable persons.

The IGP made this known when he played host to a delegate from the Federal ministry led by the Permanent Secretary, Dr. Ezekiel Oyemomi in his office at the Force Headquarters, Abuja.
The Permanent Secretary used the forum to solicit for the IGP’s support in his ministry’s bid to prevent gender-based violent crimes against women and other vulnerable persons. He also sought for the cooperation of the Police High Command for the sensitization of the general public against the unwholesome act.
The IGP declared to the delegation that the Nigeria Police under his watch is gender sensitive and as such it would be committed to ensure that the perpetrators of gender based violence refrain from it or face the wrath of the law. He further used the occasion to enjoin members of the public to utilize the Nigeria Police-Gender based platform to report any case in this regard.
