He sounded perturbed while speaking with our crime editor on the
phone. The Deputy Managing Director/ Deputy Editor-in-Chief of The Sun
newspapers, Mr Steve Nwosu, had reasons to be disturbed.
A few hours
earlier, his beautiful wife, Oluwatoyin, was abducted by gunmen
suspected to be robbers. While the motive of the seven armed men is
still in the realm of conjecture, it was certain the bandits knew what
they wanted.
The men of the underworld, who rode in boats, stormed the area through the waterway, about 2:30am on Monday.
Camouflaging as robbers, the hoodlums earlier robbed a few flats in
the area before heading for Nwosu’s house. Some policemen toed this line
of thought. They believe that Nwosu was actually the target of the
gunmen, stressing that the robbery of other flats was to disguise the
bandits’ real intention.
According to them, among all the flats that were robbed, it was only
Nwosu’s home that a hostage was taken. Three of the robbers, according
to some of the residents, entered the house while the remaining four
mounted sentry outside. The robbers cum abductors broke the glass of a
window in the house and removed the burglar-proof before gaining entry.
