The abductors of three secondary girls from Babington Macaulay Junior
Seminary School, Ikorodu, Lagos State have demanded N20 million ransom
for each of them. A parent of one of the girls, who preferred anonymity,
said this yesterday.
However, the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Dolapo
Badmus, neither picked her calls nor replied text message sent to her
mobile line to confirm this. This came as the House of Representatives
yesterday mandated the Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Solomon Arase,
to intensify efforts to free the girls. Parents and teachers yesterday
intensified prayers for the release of the abducted schoolgirls.
However, academic activities were still grounded in the school. At
10a.m. yesterday, the parents and teachers were offering prayers at the
school chapel. An unconfirmed source said one of the kidnapped students,
Olusa Timilehin, is the daughter to one of the directors of Lagos State
Anglican School Management Board.
