A woman was feared dead when a new Toyota ‘Hummer’ bus caught fire at
Ojota bus stop near Total filling station in Lagos. The driver, who is
also the owner of the bus with registration number Ekiti LG91MUE,
survived with minor injuries, while several others were injured.
Also yesterday, a Toyota Camry car belonging to an Army officer went
up in flames on Oshodi-Apapa Expressway. The distraught owner of the bus
blamed the incident on the lingering fuel scarcity.
He said: “I have been on the queue at Total filling station since
yesterday to buy fuel. In fact, I passed the night at the filling
station in order to purchase fuel. It was a few minutes ago, about
11.30a.m that I was able to get fuel. “As I drove out to go to Oregun
area, the fire started. See what is left of my bus.” According to him,
effort to put out the fire with a fire extinguisher yielded no result.
