Two persons have been arrested in Ogun State for allegedly
trafficking teenage girls and young women to Libya for prostitution.
The
suspects, Gani and Posi (surnames withheld), were nabbed by operatives
attached to Isara Police Division in Remo North Local Government Area of
the state.
They were said to have been involved in trafficking women between the
ages of 16 and 23 to the North African country for more than a year ago
in return for illicit cash. Sources said the suspects usually pick
their victims from Isara, Ipara and Ode-Remo communities in the local
government before eventually meeting their waterloo.
It was learnt that the sudden disappearance of a 23-year-old lady,
Kemi Kazeem, from her matrimonial home in Isara on Tuesday last week led
to the arrest of the suspects. It was also learnt that Kemi was a
nursing mother and an apprentice hairdresser in the town.
