A cleric, Pastor Israel Ovie, his wife and four children escaped
death by a whisker as fire razed the Bayelsa State district headquarters
of Greater Power of God Fire Mission International.
The church is
located at Amarata, a suburb of Yenagoa metropolis.
The fire, a witness said, was caused by a candle lit by the pastor’s
six-year-old daughter, Dominion, in the apartment designated as Pastor’s
Residence.
The witness said the inferno, which started about 8:45p.m, destroyed
property worth millions of naira in the church constructed with planks.
It took the intervention of neighbours and passers-by to prevent the
fire from spreading to nearby houses.
The cleric, Ovie, told journalists that they lit a candle as there
was power outage. According to him, the candle fell down on clothes and
spread to other things.http://newtelegraphonline.com/pastor-wife-four-children-escape-death-church-fire/
