Corrupt policemen will be kicked out, Owoseni threatens

The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Fatai Owoseni, has charged men and officers of the command to shy away from corrupt practices or they would be dismissed from the Nigeria Police Force.

Owoseni made this declaration at the just concluded Course 1 of 2017 Batch 45 of the Police Re-Orientation Course at the Ikeja Police Training School.
According to him, the Nigeria Police would no longer condone any act of misconduct. He noted that the course was initially designed to correct erring police officers, arrested for misconduct, but it has been stretched to include other policemen in the state.
The course was also to constantly acquaint policemen in the state of the latest development and directives of the leadership of the force, stressing that if anyone was found wanting, he or she would be kicked out of the force.
The Commandant of the Police Training School, Mr. Kayode Egbetokun, an Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), urged the participants to practice all they leant at the college.
Egbetokun said: “The course is in line with the vision of the Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Ibrahim Idris. It is to broaden policemen knowledge in line with the international best practices. Through the training, participants were taught core policing values. The course is also targeted at bringing about change in the attitude of policemen, especially those, who on daily basis, interact with members of the public. The essence of the training is to allow many of the officers in the state to go through a refresher course to further enhance their professional duties.”
The 86 participants in the course were drawn from all area commands and police divisions in Lagos State.
The training was initiated and sponsored by Owoseni, while Egbetokun, anchored the exercise. The 86 trainees were expected to serve as ambassadors.
